Peter Munya is one of the most influential and popular leader in Kenya. He is the former Governor of Meru and Cabinet Secretary in Uhuru Kenyatta regime. He is also a strong ally of Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Nark Kenya leader Martha Karua.
Honorable Peter Munya has criticized Governor Kawira Mwangaza leadership and urged her to work for the people who voted for her. He also added and said that Governor Kawira Mwangaza should stop being angry when asked questions concerning Meru leadership. Honorable Peter Munya was Meru for one term and unsuccessfully vied for second term and was defeated by honorable Kiraitu Murungi. Honorable Peter Munya seems to have changed his mind and he is likely to be in the ballot in 2027 for Meru gubernatorial seat. He will have a stiff competition with the sitting governor Kawira Mwangaza who is serving the first term.
