It was one of those rare incidences where former President Uhuru Kenyatta made public appearance when he attended the requiem mass of the wife of Alfred Gitonga.
Gitonga was the personal assistant of former President, the late Mwai Kibaki. The requiem mass was held at St Austin’s Catholic church, Nairobi on Friday and was attended by among others, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Until her demise, Popsy Bastiana D’Souza Gitonga served as Madagascar’s tourism minister in the government of President Andrea Rajoelina.
As Uhuru and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga enjoyed a good chat, Pepita Ranka, the former President’s long serving bodyguard, was captured while on high alert in line of duty.
Ranka was one of the most popular bodyguards around the former Head of State for the entire period of his presidency.
Even after his exit from the seat of power in 2022, Uhuru continues to enjoy the services of Ranka, who is considered one of the top VIP protection personel in the country.
