President William Ruto has today delivered a late evening message that has stimulated variety of reactions from Kenyans. In his message, the president said that when Kenyans are asking for development, they are actually telling the government to look for more taxes to deliver the promised development projects.
The head of state was defending his government over the proposed housing bill that is about to be presented before the national assembly for passing. The bill will see the 3% of civil servants’ salaries being deducted to fund the housing project that Ruto placed as one of his agendas.
Kenyans who saw the news after it was shared by Kenyans.co.ke on Facebook gave different views. Some of the netizens who commented supported the statement while others who are most likely Azimio supporters threw stones at the message. Here are some of the comments that the writer has just screenshot on Facebook.
From the comments it is evident that most people are not in support of the decision that Kenya Kwanza made to propose the Housing Bill. A good number of them can be seen arguing that the former presidents including Ruto’s predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta just used the little tax to fund so many development projects.
