There were emotions as veteran journalist Munene Kamau was laid to rest at his Ithareini rural home in Kirinyaga County on Tuesday 16th May.
The send off was attended by various leaders and his colleagues in the media industry.People who knew him well when he was alive had glowing tributes.
Journalists termed the death of the 70 year old as a huge blow to the media industry.
Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina and MP Gichimu Githinji are among local leaders who were present at the burial. MP Githinji said that Munene was always active in informing the public about happenings in the country and everyone should emulate him. Ms Maina on the other hand said Munene’s stories were always well balanced.
Kirinyaga Senator Kamau Murango was represented by Baragwi Ward MCA David Mathenge.
Munene succumbed to cancer last week. He left behind a wife and three children. His family mourned him as a supportive patriarch whose death will forever remain etched in their minds.
Munene began his career as a journalist in 1984. He initially worked at Kenya News Agency before quitting to join Standard media group where he worked until last year. May his soul continue resting in peace.
