DPP Noordin Haji is President William Ruto’s pick to lead the National Intelligence Service.
According to a statement released by the president’s office, Deputy President William Ruto has taken the necessary steps to ensure a smooth transition at the National Intelligence Service in preparation for the retirement of Major General (Rtd) Philip Wachira Kameru.
After a distinguished career in the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF), Kameru assumed the role of chairman of the NIS in 2014.
If confirmed by the legislature, Mr. Noordin Haji will take over as director of the NIS. The fact that Mr. Haji was previously serving as DPP before his nomination today to the NIS is worth noting.
Haji graduated from the University of Wales with a Master of Laws and a Bachelor of Laws. He graduated from Australian National University with honors and a Master of National Security Policy. The Kenya School of Law awarded him a postgraduate diploma.
