After spending the last five years in the cold, Wesley Korir is back with a bang after being appointed by President William Ruto as Chief Adminstrative Secretary in his government.
The former runner has had a checkered political career since joining the murky world of politics in 2013 where he pulled a shocker by sending home the incumbent, Joshua Kutuny, and become the new Cherangany MP.
Interestingly, Korir won the seat as an independent candidate as Kutuny ran on a URP party ticket.
But in 2017, the former Boston’s Marathon champion found the going tough after being sent packing by the very man he had ousted in 2013.
In the run up to the 2022 general election, Korir allied himself with UDA party led by then then Deputy President William Ruto. Though he clinched the party ticket, he ended up losing the race to the Democratic Action Party ( DAP-K) candidate. Nonetheless, he remained a key Ruto foot soldier in the region.
And on Thursday, his loyalty was rewarded when he was nominated by Dr Ruto as Chief Adminstrative Secretary in the Ministry of Sports, Culture and the Arts.
