His has been a rollercoaster political career that started in 2002 when he ran for the Juja MP seat and won. But in 2007, he suffered a shock loss at the hands of business magnate, George Thuo.
In 2010, William Kabogo bounced back in style to reclaim the Juja MP seat after the High Court nullified Thuo’s election.
Three years later, at the peak of his political career, Kabogo was elected as the first Kiambu Governor having won the seat on a TNA party ticket.
At one point, Kabogo was considered as one of the front runners to succeed the then President Uhuru Kenyatta as Mount Kenya region political kingpin. But this now looks very unlikely.
In 2017, he suffered a shock defeat at the hands of former Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu. After five years in the cold, Kabogo attempted to make a comeback in 2022.
But for this flamboyant politician, his last minute political miscalculation has once again confined her in the political cold.
Without thinking about its implications, Kabogo rebelled against the then UDA presidential candidate, William Ruto. This move would deny him a chance to make a comeback. He lost in his quest for Kiambu Governor to Ruto man, Kimani Wamatangi.
Considered one of the richest politicians in the country, Kabogo faces an acid test his deeper pockets notwithstanding. Could this be the end of the road for him?
