In Pokemon Go, every Monday, a new Pokemon takes over Max Battles for an hour. The June 2 Max Monday will feature Dynamax Chansey, so here are its weaknesses and best counters.
Chansey is one of the oldest creatures in the franchise, as it is part of the original 151 Pokemon from the Kanto region.
This pink ball became popular thanks to the notability given to it by the anime as Nurse Joy’s right-hand in the Pokemon Centers.
If you’re after the gigantic form of this Normal-type tank or its evolution, Blissey, here are Dynamax Chansey’s weaknesses and counters.
Dynamax Chansey weaknesses in Pokemon Go
Chansey and its Dynamax form are pure Normal-type Pokemon, which means they are only weak against Fighting-type moves.
While this does make choosing a team fairly simple – as you have one type to focus on – the amount of choices to pick from is a tad slim, as there are only a handful of Fighting-type Dynamax or Gigantamax creatures in Niantic’s game.
On the other hand, Chansey is resistant to Ghost-type attacks, so avoid using those as they won’t deal much damage at all.
Remember that only fellow Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon are eligible in Max Battles.
Dynamax Chansey best counters
Even though Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon are still very new to the game, there are a few solid choices that can take Dynamax Chansey down.
While Dynamax Machamp might be the most accessible choice, the strongest option is Gigantamax Machamp – which recently had its own Max Battle Day. Remember that Gigantamax Pokemon are more powerful than their Dynamax counterparts.
If you don’t have access to either, then go for any of the other Dynamax Fighting-type creatures from the table. While Passimian can be tricky to get, most players should have Falinks or Dubwool, as they have been featured many times.
How to get Chansey in Pokemon Go
There are several ways players can find Chansey or Dynamax Chansey in the game:
- As a wild encounter
- As a 3-Star Max Battle boss (increased spawns during its time as the June 2 Max Monday headliner)
- As a GO Pass: April Research reward
Previously, players could find regular Chansey as a Tier 1 Raid boss (though the recent Raid rotations don’t feature it). Moreover, the Normal-type creature used to hatch from 2km and 10km Eggs, and trainers could also get it as a reward for completing Research tasks.
Remember that starting May 19, 2025, players are no longer required to physically go to a Power Spot, as they can join Max Battles remotely using Remote Raid Passes.
To join Dynamax Chansey’s battle, players must pay 250 Max Particles, which can be collected from visiting such Power Spots daily. If you fail to defeat the Max Battle boss, the MPs will be returned so you can try again.
It’s worth noting that these special creatures cannot be caught in their gigantic forms, so after defeating Dynamax Chansey, trainers will have the chance to try and catch a regular Chansey with the Dynamax ability.
How to evolve Happiny into Chansey and Blissey
Chansey is part of a three-member family, which means a good amount of Candy will be required to register all of its forms in the Pokedex. Plus, a special requirement must be met.
To evolve Happiny into Chansey, players will need to feed it 25 Candy and walk with Happiny as their Buddy for 15km. Then, to turn Chansey into Blissey, trainers will have to give it an extra 50 Candy.
Chansey Candy
Players should take advantage of Chansey taking over Max Battles during its time as the Max Monday headliner to challenge the pink ball and farm Candy.
However, to do it faster, use Pinap Berries to increase the amount of Candy you receive per catch. Then, transfer the extra Chansey to Professor Willow in exchange for a few more.
They can also set the Pokemon as their Buddy and take it for long walks, or trade some Rare Candy for more Chansey Candy.
Dynamax Chansey CP in Pokemon Go
As with every Raid Boss in the game, the CP Dynamax Chansey has during a Max battle won’t be the same once you manage to catch it after defeating it. Plus, certain types of weather can increase such CP.
CP range once captured | 654 – 717 |
Partly Cloudy weather CP range | 817 – 896 |
Chansey max CP (Level 50) | 1418 |
Dynamax Chansey stats & moves
As a pure Normal-type Pokemon, Chansey has the following stats:
ATTACK | DEFENSE | STAMINA | CP |
---|---|---|---|
60 | 128 | 487 | 1418 |
Fast Moves
- Pound (Normal/STAB)
- Zen Headbutt (Psychic)
Charged Moves
- Hyper Beam (Normal/STAB)
- Dazzling Gleam (Fairy)
- Psychic (Psychic)
Can Chansey be Shiny?
Yes, Chansey and Dynamax Chansey can be Shiny in Pokemon Go. Regular Shiny Chansey debuted in the game back in February 2020, and Shiny Dynamax Chansey did it on the very same day the gigantic form was added to the game – March 2025.
This family’s Shiny variants are a little bit weird, as they do not share a color scheme, like other families do.
Shiny Chansey is very easy to spot, as its regular pink tones change to green, with darker areas in its ears, egg pouch, and feet. However, if a Shiny Chansey evolves, Shiny Blissey will go back to its regular pink body, though a couple of tones lighter. In Happiny’s case, it changes from pink to light lilac.
However, it’s good to remind players that the odds of coming across a Shiny Pokemon are very low, and there’s no special method to secure an encounter. All players can do to increase their chances of finding this golden creature is to take on as many Max Battles as they can.
