A new behind-the-scenes sizzle reel for Peacemaker Season 2 may have sneakily revealed the reintroduction of two dead characters, if a fan theory is correct.
It’s been over three years since John Cena’s gun-toting, helmet-sporting anti-hero made the leap to the small screen in Max’s Peacemaker, saving the world from the Butterflies (and calling the Justice League “d*ckheads for their tardiness”).
A lot has changed since then. The DCEU officially ended with Aquaman 2, and James Gunn’s DCU will officially kick off with Superman this July.
And, going by footage from Peacemaker Season 2, the newly rebooted franchise isn’t shying away from multiverse shenanigans.
Peacemaker’s dad and brother may return in Season 2
In a new behind-the-scenes look at Peacemaker Season 2, there are two notable and brief moments. Firstly, White Dragon appears in a new blue and white suit, suggesting one of two things: someone else will take on the villainous, supremacist mantle, or Chris will encounter a variant of his dad in the multiverse.
Secondly, there’s another character who appears to be able to fly and destroys a helicopter. It’s hard to make out exactly what he’s wearing, but he could be the other character seen in a set photo of a mural. It’s widely believed this is Chris’ brother Keith, and he may be played by David Denman.
“Potential first look at the mystery character that was teased in the mural set photo from the alternate universe, rumoured to be Peacemaker’s brother, Keith, who lived in that other universe,” one user speculated.
“Peacemaker’s brother is officially a character in the show’s second season. This show is going to 100% be a multiversal story. The possibilities are endless,” another wrote.
“The Peacemaker from the DCEU travels to another universe (the DCU universe) and meets his version from that universe, where his brother didn’t die, nor did his father, and he must confront them,” a third predicted.
Gunn told EW that the Quantum Unfolding Chamber is at the “center” of Season 2’s story, and that could be how Peacemaker accesses another universe (and maybe even confronts himself, as teased in the trailer).
