Nintendo has warned Switch 2 players to avoid making a mistake related to the portable console’s screen, ahead of its June 5 launch.
As Nintendo gears up for its big Switch 2 launch, the video game company has released a downloadable health and safety document. While this may sound rather dull, there is an interesting detail that could save you a lot of grief at launch. Even if you often neglect instruction manuals in favour of just getting stuck in, you’ll need to take extra care with the Switch 2’s screen.
Nintendo has warned every player not to remove the protective film layer that has been attached to it. The warning notes that: “The screen is covered with a film layer designed to prevent fragments scattering in the event of damage. Do not peel it off.”
Nintendo issues Switch 2 warning
This may seem like a no-brainer, but given many of us are used to peeling off the satisfying layer of plastic on our gadgets when we get them, it can be all too easy to make this simple mistake.
As for the reasons behind this warning, it’s likely due to the Switch 2 having a glass screen. The Switch OLED famously had an “anti-scattering adhesive film” to stop glass shards from, well, scattering all over the place if it were dropped.
By removing the adhesive film, you’ll raise the risk of sharp glass cutting you or those around you if you do suffer any breakages. This is especially important if you have young children, who may be a little less careful when playing with the console.
So, before you go tearing open your Switch 2 box and peeling off every plastic film sheet, be sure to leave the screen protector alone!
