We’ll prosecute film and skit makers who use our uniform without approval – LASTMA warns

The management of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, has warned skit and film makers to stop wearing its uniform.

The news was shared by Instablog Saturday, August 12, 2023.

According to the source, anyone caught wearing the uniform in a movie or skit would be arrested and prosecuted.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Bolaji Oreagba, said this in a statement on Friday, August 11, 2023.

He referred to section 79 of the criminal law of Lagos state 2015, which states that it’s a crime to use the uniform without being authorised.

In his words “Film or skit makers who portray as LASTMA Officer without applying for, and being duly issued a permit letter for such portrayals should desist with immediate effect or face the full wrath of the law.”

He noted that the new regulation prevent the misuse of LASTMA uniforms and kits in the society.

Mr Bolaji also urged the National Association of Theatre Arts Practitioners and other bodies to inform their members.
