Wike, Ortom Honoured As PDP Govs Forum Welcomes New Members

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors’ forum has honoured Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, for putting personal “interests behind that of our party, people and nation”.
The forum gave the award while welcoming the party’s governors-elect at an event held recently in Abuja.
Samuel Ortom and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, governors of Benue and Enugu, were also honoured alongside others.

Falana To Defend Seun-Kuti

Human Rights Lawyer, Femi Falana said on Sunday that Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, had sought his legal services following the singer’s assault on a police officer.
Falana, who confirmed the development to our correspondent, also noted that the singer has enough evidence to defend himself.
He said, “I am his lawyer and he has briefed me. He certainly has evidence. This is not the first time he is dealing with the police.”

Labour Party’s House of Representatives member-elect for the Aba South/Aba North federal constituency of Abia, Emeka Nnamani, said the South-East will take a decision on the Speakership issue.
Addressing reporters in Abuja on Sunday, the politician said that despite being elected on different platforms, incoming lawmakers from the region will provide block votes.
Nnamani said people think the 10th National Assembly is going to be “chaotic and dramatic,” but that will not happen.

Nigerian businessman Femi Otedola has accused the chairman of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (Transcorp), Tony Elumelu, of backstabbing him repeatedly at his most vulnerable moments in business.
Mr Otedola made the revelation in a statement that marks his first public intervention in the recent battle for the soul of Transcorp, obtained exclusively by PREMIUM TIMES.
The billionaire recently divested his newly acquired stake in Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (Transcorp) to Mr Elumelu, pulling the plug on the scramble for the top ownership of the group.
