In Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, several young people burned a poster of the Nigerian artist Davido to show their outrage at the foul music video that the singer just shared on his Twitter account.
Before the song “Jaye Lo” by his signee, Logos Olori, was officially released, Davido leaked a 45-second snippet of the music video on social media to promote it.
Men may be seen worshipping and dancing in front of a mosque in the footage.
The video received a range of responses from the public, with some Muslim community members accusing Davido of disrespecting their faith and calling for the removal of the offending video. Others urged Davido to extend an apology to Muslims over the video.
Many of Davido’s followers had come to his defence as the criticism of him kept coming in. Later, Davido gave in to criticism and removed the video from all of his social media accounts.
In response to the contentious video, several young people reportedly marched to the streets of Maiduguri, Borno State, on Tuesday, July 25.
