According to Dailypost, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has denied reports of appointing Adeshina Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, as its ambassador. Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy at NDLEA clarified this in a statement on Saturday.
Babafemi explained that NDLEA’s recent interaction with Naira Marley was to encourage him to use his talent to discourage young individuals from substance abuse.
Contrary to rumors and speculation, the NDLEA said that it never appointed Naira Marley as its ambassador.
“This clarification has become necessary due to ongoing misinterpretations of the purpose of the visit, especially on social media, where some reports suggest that the British-Nigerian singer has been appointed as an NDLEA Ambassador.
“It’s misleading and falsehood as the photos and video from the visit of Naira Marley’s advocacy message to his fans and followers were shared by the Agency with accurate captions that did not imply any appointment. The decision by the Agency was to encourage Naira Marley to use his influence and share anti-substance abuse messages against drug abuse.”
