Political Commentator Herman Manyora has predicted tough ride for the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance dialogue team to be led by the Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
Speaking with NTV on Thursday evening, Manyora claimed that the Azimio team is going for negotiations, while the Kenya Kwanza team led by the Majority leader in the National Assembly Kimani Ichung’wah is going for war, predicting a win for the latter.
The University of Nairobi lecturer opined that the Kenya Kwanza side is more ready for the talks if their composition for the members is anything to go by compared to Azimio’s team.
He held the view that the opposition should have included people like Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
“If I was asked by Azimio, we are establishing our team how do you go about it, I would tell them since you are starting the talks and you are aware the other side can bring hardliners, put your own hardliners as well, put Edwin Sifuna, but now they went the soft way, they will receive a lot of blows in the negotiations,” said Manyora.
The Azimio team which comprises of Kalonzo, DAP-K leader Eugene Wamalwa, Nyamira Senator Okong’o Omogeni, Malindi MP Amina Mnyazi and the Minority leader in the National Assembly Opiyo Wandayi.
The Kenya Kwanza side will be represented by Ichung’wah, the Majority leader in the Senate Aaron Cheruiyot, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) chairperson and Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, UDA Vice Chair and EALA MP Hassan Omar as well as Bungoma Woman Rep Catherine Wambilianga.
In a statement on Thursday, Kalonzo reached out to Ichung’wah inviting him for talks on Monday August 9, 2023 at Serena Hotel, in what he termed as urgency of the issues and anxiety from Kenyans, expressing his hopes that solutions will be arrived at by the end of August.
