President William Ruto’s Cabinet Secretaries are still sleeping on the job even after his recent attacks on them, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has claimed.

Ruto, speaking in State House on August 1, scolded his ministers, saying that some are not even aware of what’s happening in their own dockets.

He said that the same is the case with Principal Secretaries and parastatal heads, some of whom are completely in the dark about their departments.

The Head of State disclosed that a number have been admitting not being aware of the happenings in their ministries when he calls them on phone.

“I call many PSs and ask them what is going on here and they have no clue and this is your department, that is the job that you have; you are not a messenger, you are not a security person, you are not photographer, you are not a watchman,” Ruto said.

He claims that most of these people were placed there because of their performance in Ruto’s campaigns and not because they can deliver.

The ODM Secretary General has added that Ruto was warned against such people from the start but chose to not listen, and should now deal with the embarrassment his own team is bringing his way.

“My views about the caliber of Cabinet Secretaries are public. I said from the beginning that I didn’t believe that most of them had the capacity to hold those offices. I did tell Kenyans that they will embarrass them and it is happening on a daily basis,” he said on Spice FM on Friday.

Sifuna pointed out that most of the people in the cabinet have been in the public eye for long, and Kenyans know their capabilities, and Ruto was wrong to ignore those warning him against them.

This comes at a time when some like Ababu Namwamba of Sports are being accused of mishandling things in the ministry as others like Trade CS Moses Kuria battle claims of being foul mouthed
