President William Ruto’ s allies have stepped forward to defend his administration against rumors of a plot to disrupt the top leadership. Among those speaking out are former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who has been urged to break his silence and clarify his stance on the ongoing signature collection.
Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, along with Ministry of Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria and several MPs, have expressed their belief that the former head of state should not be involved in any schemes aimed at destabilizing the government. The leaders from the Mt Kenya region have raised concerns about Uhuru’ s position as Chairman of Azimio, questioning whether he supports the removal of President Ruto.
These influential figures have called upon Uhuru to distance himself from any plans that Azimio may have to undermine the government. Meanwhile, ODM leader Raila Odinga has intensified his opposition to Ruto’ s administration, rallying his supporters to embrace the idea of civil disobedience.
Raila recently drew hundreds of supporters who eagerly awaited his address. The ensuing gathering brought the city to a standstill as people stopped to listen. Raila emphasized that his planned protest scheduled for Wednesday would proceed as planned. He was accompanied by ODM Deputy Party Leader Wycliffe Oparanya.
In response to reports of an anti- Ruto campaign gaining momentum in the Mt Kenya region, to prevent Gachagua from becoming the Mt Kenya Kingpin, Trade CS Moses Kuria conveyed a message to Ruto, urging him to remain calm and focused.
However, Kuria also cautioned former President Kenyatta against utilizing his financial influence to destabilize the current government. In a metaphorical statement, he likened President Ruto to a son of the Mt Kenya region and challenged Kenyatta to continue attacking Ruto while emphasizing that nobody is above the law.
Kuria’ s firm statement emphasized the importance of all Kenyans, including former President Uhuru Kenyatta, respecting President William Ruto and recognizing his electoral victory. He declared that this issue extends beyond Uhuru and his interests, urging unity and adherence to the rule of law.
