Commissioner Irene Masit is said to have fled the country silently on Tuesday night after what is reported as frequent threats by people allegedly known to her. In a story done by The Star, Irene Masit is said to have been threatened over her decision to oppose Mr William Ruto’s election in the last general election. The said people have been pushing her, allegedly to denounce her stand but she has insisted that her conscience was clear on the decision that she made to reject the President’s election. Those people have even attempted to give her an audience with a senior person in the government but Masit has continuously maintained that she cannot do so without her lawyer Donald B Korir.
Shaken by the relentless threats, she quietly organized with a friend who bought her an air ticket. Those who are aware say that she left her house in pajamas in the cover of darkness and gave no hint that she was flying out of the country. Her next destination remains unclear though. It is also not clear whether Masit reported the death threat’s to the police.
