“We Know Your End Game” Mathioya MP Tell Raila Over Civil Disobedience Calls, Says Government’s Plan

Mathioya Member of Parliament Edwin Mugo now claims that The Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance camp boss Raila Odinga is angling for an handshake with the Kenya Kwanza government owing to his civil disobedience calls.

Addressing his supporters on Tuesday at Kamukunji Grounds, Raila announced a number of measures to deny the government tax, following the approval of the Finance Bill 2023 which was signed in to law by President William Ruto on Monday.

Raila called for tax boycotts by limiting fuel consumption, urging Kenyans to walk to work, and also have matatus carry double their capacity maintaining the current fares.

Political leaders allied to President Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza camp argued that Raila’s calls amounts to economic sabotage, with Mugo saying Raila has used the same tricks to win an handshake in the previous regimes.

Speaking in Murang’a on Thursday, Mugo said the Kenya Kwanza government will not be swayed by Raila’s remarks, saying any moves by the Azimio Camp that will cause chaos will be dealt, adding that the government is busy delivering its promises to Kenyans.

“Whatever Raila is doing is not new. We are used to his moves. We know he is looking for an handshake and I want to tell him that the Kenya Kwanza government is full. We are busy with development such as launching roads and looking for Private-Public Partnerships to ensure every household has water.”

“We are not afraid of Raila, he can protest as many times as possible with sufuria on his head alongside Jeremiah Kioni. The fact remains that we will not be intimidated. If they did not intimidate us when we were outside government, will they intimidate us now we have government?” Posed Mugo.

Raila announced that his camp will stage protests on June 7th, dismissing Kenya Kwanza calls to resume bipartisan talks on July 4th.
