According to Britannica, the Fourth of July is an annual celebration in the United States. It is also called Independence Day because it marks the day that the Declaration of Independence was signed by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776.

The Continental Congress was a group that represented 13 British colonies in North America. The people who lived in the colonies were part of Great Britain, but they were not happy about the way the British government treated them and made them pay many taxes.

They thought this was unfair because they did not have a say in the way they were ruled.

The Declaration of Independence saw them announce their decision to separate from Great Britain, but the colonists had already started fighting against the British.

After several more years of fighting, the war ended, and the United States became an independent country.

Today the Fourth of July is celebrated in the United States with picnics, family gatherings, public festivals, and fireworks.

The mission of the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi is to advance the interests of the United States and to serve and protect U.S. citizens in Kenya.

The Embassy in Nairobi was opened on March 2, 1964, when the United States established diplomatic relations with Kenya.

In 1998, the original embassy was the target of a terrorist attack, after which a new embassy building was constructed in Gigiri, a suburb of Nairobi, in 2003.

The bombing as well as the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack in New York City and Washington DC prompted the US State Department to start a multibillion-dollar building and renovation program to make US embassies around the world safer.

Other functions of the embassy include; processing immigrant visas and acting as the public diplomacy arm of the United States.
