Azimio One Kenya Coalition supporters in Nairobi have sent a strong message to ODM leader Raila Odinga ahead of planned protests.
Speaking during Bunge la Wananchi in Jacaranda, the supporters urged Raila to ignore those telling him to keep off street protests. Led by Kamau Owino, they said that they were tired of Azimio rebels who were against the call for protests. The supporters, who are residents of Jacaranda, lamented over the surging cost of essential commodities.
Over the past few days, President William Ruto’s allies have come out attacking Raila for his planned street demonstrations dubbed ‘sabasaba’. Others have accused Raila of beginning an early campaign in the name of fighting for burdened Kenyans.
Azimio supporters are now mobilizing their followers to turn out in large numbers to show their dissatisfaction with Ruto’s government. The demonstrations aim to push the Kenya Kwanza government to lower the cost of living and drop a series of taxes in their newly signed finance act.
Even as Ruto defends his policies, the Court has found flaws in the act and imposed stay orders on it until July 5, when the matter will be fully determined.
