Only 39 per cent of Kenyans believe that President William Ruto will assist low-income earners (hustlers) by 2027, a new survey by TIFA has shown.
According to the report, 37 per cent of Kenyans believe that Ruto will fully reduce the high cost of living by the end of his first term. 29 per cent of Kenyans are very confident that Ruto’s administration will create employment by 2027 while 31 per cent believe Ruto will reduce the cost of education.
The biggest percentage of Kenyans (60 per cent) believe that Ruto will subsidize agricultural inputs by the time he finishes his first term.
Campaign promises
Almost a fifth of all respondents (18 per cent) indicated that they could not recall any Kenya Kwanza 2022 campaign promises, while nearly half (47 per cent) mentioned that of reducing the cost of living.
Other frequently mentioned responses included assistance to small businesses (29 per cent) and employment creation (18 per cent).
Currently, only the provision of subsidized fertilizer receives a “very much” implementation-so-far score that is close to half (44 per cent), though assistance to small businesses (including the establishment of the Hustler Fund) receives quite numerous “very much” mentions (26 per cent).
By contrast, the implementation ratings for reducing the cost of living, job creation and reduction of education costs are largely negative.
