Days after the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) completely shut down and transferred all functions to the Social Health Authority (SHA), the new authority warned Kenyans of a fake job advertisement.
In a statement on Sunday, November 24, 2024, SHA flagged a notice advertising various positions.
The faked poster had over 100 positions ranging from cooks, nutritionists, clinicians, clinical officers, counsellors, and even internship positions.
The fake notice further listed various requirements for different job groups and directed interested people to apply through an email address that was also attached.
To hoodwink Kenyans, the faked notice also indicated that all positions were permanent and pensionable.
Moreover, it informed interested people to submit their applications before the close of business on Sunday, November 24, 2024.
However, SHA, which took over from now-defunct NHIF, warned Kenyans against falling victim to that fake job advertisement.

Transition
The poster was shared following the transition from NHIF to SHA, which was concluded on Friday, November 22, 2024. The transition left former NHIF employees uncertain about the next move.
They had been promised a smooth transition to SHA, with assurances that their jobs would not be affected.
Four hundred employees were promised that they would be integrated into SHA, which has not yet occurred. In an advisory to SHA, the PSC indicated that the engagement of permanent, pensionable, and contract staff will conclude by law at the close of business on November 21, 2024.
However, SHA has not fully announced the way forward following the closing of NHIF.
On October 20, 2024, President William Ruto assured NHIF employees that they would not lose their jobs.
“We will make sure everyone who has served in NHIF is transitioned into SHIF,” Ruto announced during Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kwale County.
“I am aware that during this transition period, employees of the former NHIF will be managed in accordance with the provisions of the Social Health Insurance Act of 2023. I want to assure them that no one will lose their jobs, and I appreciate their dedication and service during this transition,” he added.
