The decision to act was made by the coalition following a string of demonstrations that had been going on for three consecutive days but came to a stop on Friday, July 21.

Senator Cherargei of Nandi County is one of the prominent figures who has voiced his disapproval in response to the decision made by the coalition. He openly attacked the coalition’s change of plans by remarking, with a hint of sarcasm, that he had anticipated them to take their demonstrations to an even higher level by protesting for a full seven days every week until their demands were satisfied. He added that he had expected them to do this until their demands were realized.

Cherargei made fun of the approach used by the opposition and accused them of engaging in political conmanship and blackmailing techniques. On the other hand, he stated that the administration that is led by President Ruto has shown that it is unyielding in the face of their demands and cannot be readily convinced by their arguments.

This pointed statement seems to imply that the senator thinks there is a possibility that the efforts of the coalition may not be successful in reaching the goals that were planned for them.

The struggles that a large number of Kenyans are going through as a result of the rising prices of necessary products and services have been brought to a greater number of people’s notice as a direct result of the demonstrations that have been led by the Azimio coalition. The demonstrations have provided a forum for members of the public to air their grievances and put pressure on the government to take the necessary steps to reduce the amount of financial strain that is being placed on the populace.
