Samuel Abisai Declares MP Bid 7 Years After Winning Ksh221M Jackpot

In 2017, Abisai hit the headlines after clinching the multi-million jackpot upon correctly predicting the outcome of 17 football matches.

Seven years since winning a life-changing Ksh221 million jackpot, Samuel Abisai has declared his intentions to vie for a seat in the National Assembly come the 2027 general elections.

In 2017, Abisai hit the headlines after clinching the multi-million jackpot upon correctly predicting the outcome of 17 football matches.

After becoming a household name in Kenya, he navigated both opportunities and challenges as well as encountered advice on how to manage his fortune. Whereas some individuals offered genuine counsel, others have been unscrupulous.

Now, Abisai has declared that he is setting his sights on a parliamentary seat in Lugari Constituency, a move which will see him challenge Nabii Nabwera for the seat at the next Parliament.

Nabwera was elected on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket in the 2022 elections, having vied unsuccessfully in 2007, 2013 and 2017.

While speaking during an interview on the POV Podcast where he was hosted by Cate Rira, Abisai explained the reason for setting his sights on a Parliamentary position.

“I want to vie…I want to be an MP for Lugari Constituency, of course, you know that it has someone who is doing a good job, I can’t say he is a bad person.

“My reason for going to the grassroots now is that when I go and tell people to support me, they check on what I have done…and when the position is given to me, I’ll become a servant leader and I’ll do a lot. It’ll help the community because I have been there, I’m not from a well-off position, I came from the grassroots,” he revealed.

Abisai gave his thoughts on the performance of the current Kenya Kwanza regime when posed by Rira, his answer hinting at the political standing he could take while seeking the coveted MP seat.

“Today’s government had to do what they did, it is hard compared to a long time ago but things have begun to go down slightly, like the dollar which came from one-fifty something, 160…now it is at around 130. It’s hard but things are getting better. To be honest, I feel like there’s a change,” he remarked.

Since the popular win, Abisai has withstood pressures in maintaining his focus on securing his financial future. He has diversified his investments into various ventures, including paint business, farming, and fashion, his long-time passion since his university days.

Additionally, philanthropy has been a significant part of Abisai’s post-jackpot life. Drawing from his own experience as a beneficiary of sponsorship, which saw him educated all the way to China, he has taken it upon himself to support underprivileged children.

Abisai’s income, should his Parliamentary bid prove successful, is also set to be boosted given that an MP as of now is entitled to a monthly salary of Ksh725,502 inclusive of Ksh435,301 basic salary and a house allowance of Ksh150,000, making them among the highest paid lawmakers in the world.

He hopes to join the likes of Cosmas Korir who was elected Speaker for the Bomet County Assembly on September 21, 2022.

Like Abisai, Korir burst into the national limelight in September 2018 after he won an astonishing Ksh208,733,619 in a mega jackpot organised by a betting firm. He did so after using just Ksh100 to place a bet on 17 games, predicting all of them correctly.
