Ruto’s Government Finally Unveils The Full List Of Kenyans Set To Pocket Shs. 16, 000

President William Ruto’ s administration has on Wednesday, June 22 unveiled the long list of Kenyans set to benefit from Shs. 16 billion released for the Inua Jamii Programme.

Announcing the disbursement, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua said that the Kenya Kwanza administration through the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection is determined to ensure that vulnerable members of the society are well taken care off by the government.

He regretted that the government could not make payments in a span of eight months. The Shs. 16 billion released by the government through the Treasury is set to benefit over 1 million Kenyans registered under the Inua Jamii Program. In the list, those set to benefit are orphans, senior citizens and Kenyans living with severe disabilities.

Despite delaying the funds for 8 good months putting the beneficiaries into financial debts, the Second in Command assured them that going into the future, President William Ruto’ s administration seeks to provide a monthly stipend.

According to the former Mathira Member of Parliament (MP) the beneficiaries will get an additional Ksh11 million under the Nutrition Improvement through Cash and Health Education (NICHE) complimentary programme.

According to the Head of State, each of the above beneficiaries will receive Shs. 16, 000 which is set to be paid in two tranches in June and July.e62e61f9c56c4f02b4d75e61187f197a?quality=uhq&resize=720

The second in command each beneficiary of NICHE Programme will receive an extra Shs. 4, 000 on top of the Inua Jamii stipend. He added that NICHE Programme is meant for vulnerable citizens residing in the Arid and Semi- Arid Counties of Kitui, Kilifi, Marsabit, Turkana and West Pokot.

This comes after a section of Kenyans criticised the Kenya Kwanza Alliance for not releasing funds for the elderly since taking over from the former administration on September 2022. In what looks like a big blow to the program, President William Ruto’ s administration in the 2023/2024 financial year, the Government has slashed the funds from Ksh39. 5 billion to Ksh38. 2 billion.
