Ruto Promises To Work With Kenyans In Rebuilding Cabinet

Ruto assured the country of collaborative efforts transcending political circles for the betterment of the country.

President William Ruto has promised Kenyans a new-look Cabinet that will reflect the will of the people, as he works to rebuild the government that will step up the growth trajectory of the country.

Speaking on Saturday, July 13 in Elgeyo Marakwet, Ruto assured the country of collaborative efforts transcending political circles for the betterment of the country.

“Going forward, we are going to work as Kenyans making sure that we harness every opportunity, talent and capability so that we build our economy, create jobs, manage our debt, deal decisively with corruption and make sure Kenya marches forward,” he said.

This was the first time the Head of State was making his address since his bombshell move to dismiss his entire Cabinet, save for Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi.

“You all saw what I did this week so that I remake this government well. This will allow us to unite Kenya,” stated Ruto.

The move came in response to demands by the Kenyan youth for a complete Cabinet overhaul, amidst recent protests against the Finance Bill which evolved into anti-government demonstrations.

Ruto fired his whole Cabinet on Thursday, July 11, a seismic event in the country’s history given that this was the first time it happened in the 2010 Constitution.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, on his part, who spoke during the commissioning of Kipsoen Technical and Vocational College in Elgeyo Marakwet, commended Ruto for his bold move to dismiss the Cabinet Secretaries.

Surprisingly, he was also spared from the big chop given his role in the Cabinet.

“We fully support you for the bold decision to dismiss your cabinet secretaries so that you can appoint new ones to help you in your role,” Gachagua commented.

“Appoint CSs who have no pride, those who don’t engage in politics and those who are not corrupt. That will help you to deliver to the people.”

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, in a significant diplomatic engagement, revealed the President’s vision for a new Cabinet characterised by “exceptional competence and integrity.”

Mudavadi emphasised that the forthcoming nominees will not only meet high standards of competence but will also embody integrity, crucial qualities in the face of rising public expectations and pressing national challenges.

Meanwhile, Kenyans have been calling for Ruto to also consider bringing in young blood to his new-look Cabinet with the belief that the youth may offer better knowledge of the Ministries they would be charged with spearheading, compared to their former counterparts.
