“We have formed a broad-based government to unite the country and rally all Kenyans behind the country’s transformation journey. I call on those selected to serve in the cabinet to focus on the implementation of programmes and policies that will transform the lives of Kenyans and move the country forward,” he stated in part on his social media handles.

“Let us not waste this golden opportunity. During a joint session of Cabinet and Principal Secretaries at State House Nairobi.”

This was the first meeting the President has had with the newly-reconstituted Cabinet alongside serving PSs, with a standalone Cabinet meeting yet to take place for the first time since the CSs were appointed.

On July 11, the Head of State dismissed the entire Cabinet except the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi following the Gen Z-led anti-government protests.

“I have decided to dismiss with immediate effect all cabinet secretaries and attorney general of the Cabinet of Kenya except the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs,” Ruto said then.

He then reconstituted the Cabinet on July 19 and July 24 bringing in five key allies of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

On August 8, Ruto assured the new CSs of their full support in discharging their mandates and executing a reimagined and catalysed transformation agenda.

However, he urged them to work with him in doing the right thing, noting that by doing so, they would collectively ensure success, warning this time round that his support for the cabinet would end if it conflicted with his accountability to the public.

“I have already given my undertaking to be the foremost steward of public resources and embraced my accountability for its proper use.

“Therefore, it is important to make it clear that my support for you ends if it conflicts with my accountability to the people of Kenya. Let us therefore work together in doing the right thing, and we shall be assured of success,” he stated.
