Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has been under fire from Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) who accused him of being a sycophant and a failure in his role as a senator. The online backlash came after Cherargei posted a tweet concerning the concluded world athletics championship in Budapest. 
KOT did not spare Cherargei and reminded him of his pending court cases over incitement and ethnic contempt charges. They also questioned his academic credentials and his contribution to the Senate and his county. Some users even called for his recall or impeachment as a senator.
Cherargei was forced to react and defend himself against the onslaught of criticism. He claimed that he was a victim of political witch-hunt and that he had a clean record as a senator. He also said that he was loyal to Ruto and that he would not be intimidated by the haters.
