Azimio leader Raila Odinga today sent the Governors and delegates he was addressing at the Devolution Conference held at Eldoret Sports Club wild as he responded to Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii, after the Governor mentioned demonstrations in his speech.
Raila claimed that he heard the Governor saying that they are expecting a bumper harvest because they did not put sufuria on their heads and did protests in their farms.
He told the Governor that he should know that the 2010 Constitution that he is enjoying and through which he was elected as a Governor is a product of the demonstrations that he is demonizing.
“I want to tell the governor that this Katiba (Constitution) we are having is because of maandamano (demonstrations),” Raila said amid applause from the crowd.
He also reminded the Governor that if the students of the Finland, Canada scholarship saga can be refunded their money that was alleged squandered by some leaders, then the Governor should appreciate that demonstrations is a good thing.
“I also want to remind Governor Bii that if the students of the Finland Scholarship can get their money back because of demonstrations, then demonstrations is a good thing,” Raila said as the crowd bursted into cheers.
Governor Bii and Council of Governor’s chairperson Ann Waiguru who were seated at the front seat at the Devolution conference were also spotted laughing after Raila’s remarks.
