Azimio la Umoja coalition led by opposition leader Raila Odinga has convened an anti-government rally at the historic Kamukunji Grounds on Tuesday to chart a way forward after the controversial Finance Bill sailed through in the National Assembly and was signed into law by President William Samoei Ruto.
It is highly anticipated that Azimio leader Raila Odinga can declare a return to mass action across the country to protest about the rise in taxes and the high cost of living something that the government will not take lightly.
According to the Nation Newspaper, the government begin responding to the Azimio rally by banning the Tuesday rally that is set to kick off anti-government slogans across the country. The ban on the rally will be the beginning of the opposition’s long street battle in different parts of the country.
While declaring the rally, Narc Kenya party leader Hon Martha Karua said that Kenyans will declare what direction they want to take going forward. Raila is expected back in the country on Tuesday morning to lead the opposition in the rally.
All attention will now focus on the Azimio la Umoja coalition to see what will transpire on Tuesday when they convened at Kamukunji Grounds in Nairobi.
