Dr William Ruto, the president of the republic of Kenya has joined other world leaders in condemning the coup de tat that happened in Niger.
He has also called for the release of president Bazoum with immediate effect who is currently held by the military officers who took over the government.
“Kenya joins the rest of the world to condemn, in the strongest terms, this unconstitutional act that subverts democracy through a coup-de-tat and calls for the immediate release of President Bazoum who is reportedly seized by members of the Presidential Guard,” Ruto said.
President Ruto said that Kenya is willing to help in the conflict if the African union will find it good.
“Kenya is willing to assist in resolving the conflict under the auspice of the Africa Union should it be deemed appropriate.” Dr Ruto said.
Niger becomes the eighth country in West Africa region to witness a coup de tat.
