President William Samoei Ruto’s UDA party has presented a bill to the speaker of the National Assembly, Dr. Moses Masika Wetangula, proposing to amend Kenya’s constitution to curb demonstrations and picketing.
The member of parliament for Mbeere North, Hon Geoffrey Ruku, is the one who specifically came up with the idea that seeks to moderate the occurrence of demonstrations and picketing across the country. 
According to Hon. Geoffrey Ruku, the chief organizer of the demonstration should be liable for all the losses that ensue during the process of rioting.
Moreover, Hon. Geoffrey Ruku said that police officers should be constitutionally allowed to either approve or disapprove the happening of the demonstrations.
Hon. Geoffrey Ruku made a swift motion to reprimand the former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga who has again provided a hint of the return of nationwide demonstrations after publicly declining to further participate in bipartisan dialogue with President William Samoei Ruto’s KKA.
2010 promulgation allowed any political leader such as Raila Amollo Odinga to hold demonstrations and picketing whenever they want to after notifying the police officers within the region of holding the demonstration. The police officers are only there to protect the lives of the rioters.
President William Samoei Ruto has the majority of the following in the national assembly. Therefore, Hon. Geoffrey Ruku’s bill will automatically pass.
