Police have recovered suspected c*****e and h****n estimated to be worth Ksh 3.7 million and have apprehended three suspects in Mombasa and Kilifi.
A statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) revealed that in the operations held by the Anti-n******c Unit (ANU) and Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) detectives saw 50 grams of c*****e and 1.14 kgs of h****n recovered.
C*****e, h****n
“Suspected C*****e and H****n estimated at Sh3.7 million in street value was also recovered in another operation conducted in other parts of Mombasa and Kilifi Counties.
“In a swoop conducted in the wee hours of May 7, 2024, by a combined team of Anti-n******c Unit (ANU) and Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) detectives, 50 grams of c*****e and 1.15kgs of h****n were recovered,” the DCI announced.
According to the DCI, a suspect by the name Hussein Mansur Salim was arrested in Kisauni while in possession of c*****e worth Ksh250,000.
In a separate arrest, at Stage ya Paka, a suspect by the name Ali Swale was arrested with 1kg of h****n worth Ksh3 million. The third suspect is Harrison Mwenda Kiambi who was in Maweni Mtwapa and has 150 grams h****n worth Ksh450,000.
“A suspect namely Hussein Mansur Salim was apprehended in Kisauni, Mwandoni with approximately 50 grams of c*****e valued at Sh250,000. In Kisauni at Stage ya Paka, Ali Swale was also arrested with approximately 1kg of h****n, with a street value of Sh3,000,000.
“Similarly, Harrison Mwenda Kiambi was also netted in Mtwapa Maweni with h****n weighing 150 grams, valued at Sh 450,000. The three suspects are in lawful custody pending arraignment,” the statement added.
Early on Tuesday, approximately 928 grams of suspected c*****e estimated at over Sh3.7 million was seized in an intelligence-led operation by Anti-n******c Unit hawkshaws.
The operation that was conducted in Lamu Central follows the heightened w*r against sale, distribution and consumption of illicit d***s around the country.
During the raids, several houses suspected to be illicit d***s hubs were targeted. One of the targeted houses belonged to Muuna Omar Bori, where a weighing machine and five pellets weighing approximately 85 grams were recovered.
In Mote Shamuni’s house, a clear polythene bag with c*****e weighing approximately 164 grams was seized.
At Shamuni Mwalimu Shamuni’s residence another polythene bag about 354g of the crack was also recovered.
Separate c*****e recoveries
Another raid at Fatma Mote Yusuf’s house led to the discovery of c*****e, weighing approximately 325 grams. As a result of these operations, seven individuals were apprehended on suspicion of involvement in d**g trafficking.
The arrested individuals include Nuura Omar Bori aged 34, Mote Mwalimu Shamuni aged 41, Shamuni Mwalimu Shamuni aged 41, Omar Mohamed Omar aged 23, Mohamed Abdallah aged 35, Fami Abdulrahman Mohamed aged 42 and Fatma Mote Yusuf aged 40. All the suspects are in lawful custody pending arraignment
