A moment of drama was witnessed during Senate proceedings after an Azimio senator, Mwaruma and UDA’s Uasin Gishu senator, Mandago, engaged in an exchange of words over the bipartisan talks.
While delivering his remarks on the ongoing bipartisan talks, Azimio’s senator Mwaruma noted that the opposition side will demand for the opening of the IEBC servers. According to Mwaruma, he has noted that Kenyans want to know the truth of what is stored in the IEBC servers and that the bipartisan talks team must conduct an audit on the servers.
“Baada ya kufanya uchaguza ni lazima tufungue server. Ile jopo kazi la mazungumzo lazima ilete ripoti ya audit ya Server (After the elections we must open the servers. The bipartisan talks team must table a report of the audit of the IEBC servers)” Senator Mwaruma told the Senate.
While responding to senator Mwaruma’s demand for opening of the IEBC servers, UDA’s senator Mandago noted that the Azimio team had the control of the IEBC servers prior to the 2022 election and that the opposition side should now not demand for the opening of the IEBC servers.
“Mjadala ulio hapa sio ya kufungua server kwasababu wale waliokua na Vifunguo Za server ni watu wa Azimio. Sasa waende wakatafute server kule penye waliweka (The motion right now isn’t about opening of the servers. Those who had the keys to the servers were the Azimio group hance let them look out where they placed the servers.)” Mandago told Mwaruma.
Meanwhile, Mandago’s reactions to Azimio’s demand on IEBC servers didn’t settle well with senator Mwaruma who letter cheekily reminded Mandago to first solve the Uasin Gishu scholarship saga which has tainted his name.
“Watu wa UasinGishu wanalia. wanataka urudishe pesa yao walilipa kuenda ngambo! pia hiyo server ya pesa fungua (Residents of Uasin Gishu are crying out. They want you to return their money that they payed for the abroad scholarships! Even that money server you must open” Senator Mwaruma cheekily replied to Mandago.
