Pauline Njoroge, a popular blogger and political commentator, has slammed President William Ruto for his economic policies, which she said have increased the burden on Kenyans. In a tweet posted on August 15, 2023, Njoroge accused Ruto of going back on his promises to reduce taxes and borrowing and questioned what he had done with the money he had borrowed.
“Increased taxes from a guy who said he will reduce taxes, increased borrowing from a guy who said he will not borrow…… AND NOTHING TO SHOW FOR ALL THAT MONEY!” Njoroge wrote.
Njoroge is a vocal supporter of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who is the leader of the Azimio la Umoja (Pledge of Unity) alliance. She has been campaigning for Odinga’s bid for the presidency in the 2024 general elections and has often criticized Ruto’s administration for its handling of various issues, such as the fuel prices, the Unga crisis, and the electoral reforms.
