‘Nimejitolea’ – Morara Kebaso vows to continue with anti-government activism despite criticism

Political activist Morara Kebaso has vowed to continue with his anti-government criticism despite the opposition that he has faced in recent times.

Morara has had to deal with criticism, especially from his online base, whom others have called him a conman after he started asking for funds to facilitate his movements across the country.

In a statement, posted on his X handle on Friday, October 11, 2024, Morara criticised citizens who make noise and do not take active initiatives to help achieve their dreams.

“Citizens who only complain on social media but never get to the ground to do the much-needed civic education. Citizens who complain about bad governance but are not willing to form political parties and take that governance from the corrupt individuals. They mock those who try. ‘Huendi mahali,’ they say. ‘Jaribu MCA’ they add.

“Citizens who incite others to go for demonstrations, but they themselves never show up. Citizens who despise emerging leaders by calling them projects and all manner of names, but they themselves are not willing to emerge and do better than those who are trying. Citizens who, in their private businesses or in their places of work, are already corrupt and given public office, they would steal at an advanced speed,” the statement read.

Criticism

However, the law graduate said he will continue with his activism even though his movement has attracted a lot of criticism and, at times, lukewarm support.

“Listen, my friends. As Morara Kebaso nimejitolea. I am grateful for those who support me emotionally, physically, and financially. But I also feel bad about those who call me a con or a project of so and so.

“Lately, I have gotten used to it. I realize that not everyone supports me, and some people are okay with the corrupt system as it is. Others hate my confidence because they themselves don’t have it. Haters are good because they are the fuel in the fire of passion. They infuriate me to do more and disappoint them. That is a push in the right direction.

“My message to you is simple: look at yourself and how you live your life and earn your living. Are you a citizen that deserves good leadership, or are you part of the problem?” he added.

The activist has been pushing for the formation of a party that will help champion their course, especially for the youth.
