In a statement released today, political analyst Ng’endo Ndaye warned that the protests being led by the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition could lead to the opening of Pandora’s box, resulting in massive loss of lives and destruction of property.p
She further pointed to the 2007 post-election violence as an example of what could happen if the protests are not stopped. He said that the violence was not just about the elections, but also about underlying issues such as historical enmity between communities.
Mrs Muruguu also cited the recent attack on the Nairobi Expressway at Mlolongo and the atrocities that happened in Sondu as examples of the kind of violence that could erupt if the protests continue.
Nge’ndo urged the Azimio coalition to stop the protests and to accept the results of the election. He said that the coalition was unable to convince Kenyans to vote for them, and that they should “get over it.”
He also called on Kenyans of all faiths to pray for the country, saying that it is a time for unity and peace.
The Azimio coalition has not yet responded to Nge’ndo’s statement.
