Communication Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo has accused the media of allegedly being in denial, not believing that their candidate lost in the last Presidential Elections.
” It is not the role of the government to finance the media. It so happens that the government has been advertising in the media but the government cannot be the single source of revenue for the media. Some of the plans I have as the CS responsible for that functional mandate, I don’t see why the government should continue spending the amounts of money that it has been spending on advertisement revenue, ” He said.
Eliud Owalo who spoke about the freedom of the media has also stated that the Kenya Kwanza government is not interested in having the media by their side adding that the media is yet to believe that Ruto is the President.
“I believe that the media is still facing a hangover from the last elections. The media was not impartial at all during the last election. It seems that the media up to today has still not accepted that the candidate they supported in the last election did not win”, He added.
On government advertising using the media, Owalo has said that it’s not the role of the government to finance the media.
