My Life Is In Danger: Morara Kebaso Claims Disbanded DCI Unit Plotting To Kill Him

The activist claimed that a team of flying squad officers had been dispatched from Narok to track him down and eliminate him.

Lawyer and activist, Morara Kebaso, on Monday, October 21 claimed that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Special Service Unit (SSU) which was disbanded by President William Ruto was resurfacing with the sole purpose of tracking him down with the intent to kill him.

Morara gave his account of what transpired in Narok after his tour went sour and resulted in injuries to some of his team members. He had announced a tour to conduct civic education on Sunday, October 20 during the Mashujaa Day celebrations.

Speaking in a video uploaded on his social media platforms, the activist claimed that a team of flying squad officers had been dispatched from Narok to track him down and eliminate him.

“Right now my life is in danger because there is a team of flying squad officers that has been dispatched from Narok and the county commander knows this. There’s a team of these flying squad officers that have been dispatched from Narok to look for me, to track me down and maybe shoot or whatever it is that they have been told to do.

“I also know that there is a team that has been formed under the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) called the Special Service Unit whose particular purpose is to track me down and kill me,” he revealed. DCI has yet to respond to his claims by the time of publishing this story.

Point to note: SSU was disbanded in 2022 and all officers serving in the disbanded unit were recalled to DCI Headquarters for further instructions. The investigative agency noted that the move was part of changes in the National Police Service (NPS) under President Ruto’s administration. It was formed on December 31, 2019, after the Flying Squad was disbanded by the former director of DCI, George Kinoti.

Morara went on to reveal that some spies had even gone to the extent of shopping for houses around his residence to monitor him and plot ways to get rid of him.

The lawyer-turned-activist called out a politician for sending goons to attack him while inspecting Narok Referral Hospital after touring Olulunga Market in the County. “It is very sad that a state official can choose to do this and use a state vehicle bought by taxpayers’ money to carry goons and come and attack,” he lamented.

Morara and his team had gone to Olulunga Market and then left for a referral hospital before heading to Uhuru Market. While at Narok Town, he got attacked by goons he claimed were hired by the politician. “The (politician) is the one who sent goons to attack us. They attacked us in Narok Town and followed us to Maasai Mara University where we escaped and went to Olulunga,” he recounted.

He further stated that after leaving Olulunga Market, they saw more than 50 motorbikes and 100 people who blocked the road waiting to attack them with machetes, pangas, and rungus

“We had to make a U-turn on the road and flee. I ran faster and hid in a Maasai homestead before I found police rescue but the rest of my friends were not very lucky. One of the vehicles they were in suffered a tyre burst and another swerved into a ditch,” he narrated.

Morara dismissed the notion that he was attacked by local youths, maintaining that those people who attacked him were brought from another area. “They were not Maasai because the culture of the Maasai is not that way, these are people who were mobilized and lied to,” he insisted.

He also noted the Maasai people don’t have a problem at all with civic education, adding some of the residents encouraged him to keep doing vampire diaries to show them how projects have stalled. He singled out Narok County as a crime scene claiming that most of the money is stolen through revenue collection, not even expenditure.
