Mt Kenya Leader Who’s Been Supporting Raila Regrets His Decision, Says What’s Next

Former Mukurweini Member of Parliament Kabando Wa Kabando is now a regretful man after months of supporting Azimio boss Raila Odinga and his demos.

Kabando, who was coming back after abandoning Azimio following Raila’s defeat, has been supporting the protests to show his dislike for President William Ruto’s policies and the high cost of living issue.

But he now says that he regrets backing the opposition, upon finding out that the cost of living issue is not among the things Azimio will be discussing with Ruto in the newly initiated talks.

The former Nyeri Senator candidate says that this is the main reason he trooped back to Raila after leaving, and is sad to realize that he has been fooled.

He says that, Azimio has shown that it is only after the creation of offices for top coalition members and is not after the well being of Kenyans, suggesting that he has cut links with the coalition, for the second time.

He has dismissed Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi’s communication that cost of living is the main reason Azimio is in the talks, terming this an afterthought after Azimio sensed it’s blunder.

Too late. Azimio just embraced cost of living crisis and the Finance Act 2023 as a conduit to negotiate mutilating CoK2010 for creating positions to fit big boys. Oops, caught pants down. I know am not alone in regretting innocently trusting that Azimio was genuine,” he says in a tweet.

He says that it is for the same reasons that he abandoned Azimio after the August 2022 election, because the law was against it, observing that Azimio again wants to participate in mutilating the law.

“When Azimio presidential candidate and running mate refused to accept defeat, I left outfit because the constitution had spoken through the Supreme Court. Later, on cost of living crisis, finance bill 2023 and UNITY of PURPOSE fit. We object to dialogue for creating seats! Kaput!” he adds.

But the Azimio side now claims that this is a political strategy by the Kenya Kwanza side, noting that the document Kabando is relying on, which is from National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, is one sided.
