Homa Bay member of parliament Hon George Peter Kaluma has reacted through his official twitter page hours after the High Court declined to lift the suspension of the controversial Finance Act 2023 until the case is heard and determined.
“Read Article 173 of the Constitution.Court has suspended the Finance Act because it didn’t pass through Senate despite dealing with county functions like “housing fund/levy”. Said Hon. Government continues to tax Kenyans based on Finance Act, 2022-enough money to run government. Said Hon. Peter Kaluma.
“Justice Mugure Thande has recommended that the case be heard by a three-judge bench.
Thande has intimated that the case raises ‘substantial constitutional issues’The case was filed by Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah.
It’s now a matter of wait and see what happens in the coming days if president William Ruto’s camp will appeal the court ruling against the finance bill 2023 or not.
