The former Mungiki sect leader has been missing for five days after he was allegedly picked up by police at his father’s house in Ngong.

According to the charge sheet seen by TUKO.co.ke, Njenga is accused of planning to commit a felony after he was allegedly found in possession of assorted weapons.

Police initially alleged Njenga was found in possession of offensive weapons, including 14 machetes, 24 Maasai swords, 46 rungus, and three rungus.334f34852fcb435c9a86190c14385386?quality=uhq&resize=720Earlier, Njenga’s son Stephen Maina filed a habeas corpus application to have the police compelled to produce his father.

Earlier, his lawyer Ndegwa Njiru told Kenyans.co.ke that it was not clear where Njenga was being held before appearing in court and that he had not spoken to him since the arrest last week.

The ex-Mungiki leader was picked from his home last week and the government has been mum over where they have been holding him. Njenga was arrested alongside his two brothers and personal assistant.

Former Laikipia Senatorial aspirant Maina Njenga recently dismissed the resurgence of Mungiki.

Maina Njenga said he left the organization years back and was not involved in any activities related to the group.

The ex-Mungiki leader also dismissed claims that the group is making a comeback to the public.

He argued that the group died a natural death as most of the members are of age 40 years and above.

The opposition has been charged by the Kenya Kwanza government with plotting to reinstate the Mungiki.

Last month, President William Ruto informed the leaders of Azimio that the banned Mungiki organisation would not be permitted to operate in Kenya.
