Political activist and Injact party leader Morara Kebaso has announced that he is putting his social engagement activities on hold.
In a statement published on his social media platform on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, Morara said that he is taking a small break from civic education and social engagement to restrategize.
Additionally, Morara attributed his temporary break to numerous attacks and harassment from the police whom he believes have outsmarted him.
“I am taking a small break to restrategize. I have a problem that needs a solution. I need a new strategy on how to mobilize my loyal supporters to have my back whenever I am under attack,” he said.
“The attacks have intensified and the police have become smart, they do it on days when there is something big happening so that it goes unnoticed. That’s why I need a break.”
The activist went on to say that he is genuinely fighting for a better Kenya and now he needs Kenya to fight for him adding that most of his supporters only cheer him online but never show up when he is in trouble.
“I am genuinely fighting for Kenya but I need Kenya to fight for me. Therefore I need to find a way to convince Kenya to fight for me. Most of my supporters cheer me online but when I am in trouble they never show up,” Morara added.
Morara to young leaders
Morara further warned young leaders from accepting donations with conditions, be anyone’s project or engage in activities that may compromise their principles.
He added that some people in leadership are misunderstood and taken out of context on many occasions.
“As I take a short break, this is my word of encouragement to young leaders. Don’t let anyone dampen your spirit. Remain true to your values. Don’t accept big donations with conditions that compromise your principles. Don’t be anyone’s project. You are sufficient as you are. Keep your expectations low to avoid disappointment. Don’t always complain, develop solutions,” he said.
“Be careful of who you talk to and what you say to them. The business of leadership is a nasty one. You will be misunderstood and taken out of context on many occasions.”
Morara attack
His break comes after he was attacked at Bomas of Kenya on Friday, October 4, 2024, after chaos erupted during the public participation exercise on the impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
