Aaron Cheruiyot, a senator from Kericho County, made fun of the Daily Nation’s “Martha Effect” headline regarding the election results on August 9. He is aware that the media has tried everything to promote leader Raila Odinga’s candidacy, but has failed horribly.
Since Azimio has abused the media, they cannot harass anyone, according to Senator Cheruiyot, who has been a harsh critic of the media. He is convinced that the headlines were exploited to attack Ruto but that the opposition was not helped.
The senator was one of many who said that throughout the election, the media had a bias against Gachagua and Ruto. Raila fell short of Ruto in the election, despite the publicity surrounding the “Martha Effect.”
The August 9th polls demonstrated to the country and the world that indeed, Martha Karua was overrated. Karua delivered little or no votes to Raila despite efforts by the media to discredit Gachagua and push Karua’s narrative immediately after they were named as presidential running mates.
