L’Oréal, Lintons Unveil Hair Academy in Nairobi Empowering Kenyan Hairstylists

The academy, a first of its kind in Kenya, will provide aspiring hairstylists with a comprehensive education encompassing the latest techniques, industry trends, digital skills, and business management.

L’Oréal, the world’s leading beauty company, in partnership with renowned Kenyan beauty brand Lintons, today announced the grand opening of the Lintons Hair Academy by L’Oréal in Nairobi. This state-of-the-art institution marks a major milestone in African hairdressing education, offering a world-class curriculum, cutting-edge facilities, and a deep commitment to community empowerment.

The academy, a first of its kind in Kenya, will provide aspiring hairstylists with a comprehensive education encompassing the latest techniques, industry trends, digital skills, and business management. Accredited by TVET, the Lintons Hair Academy by L’Oréal will equip graduates with internationally recognized certifications, paving the way for successful careers both locally and globally.

“At L’Oréal, we believe in the power of beauty to change lives. With the Lintons Hair Academy, we are not just shaping hairstyles, we are shaping futures,” said Grace Mbugua from Business Leader L’Oréal.

“Our goal is to empower the next generation of hairstylists in Kenya. This academy offers more than just education; it offers an opportunity for young women from disadvantaged backgrounds to rise.”

A Commitment to Education, Empowerment, and Community

Lintons Hair Academy goes beyond traditional education, focusing on a comprehensive approach to learning that sets students up for success in the modern world. With a strong emphasis on high-quality education, the curriculum is led by experienced industry professionals who skillfully blend the artistry of hairdressing with cutting-edge techniques and the latest technology.

Students will have access to state-of-the-art facilities, where they can sharpen their skills in a dynamic learning environment equipped with the most advanced tools and resources. This ensures they are fully prepared to meet the evolving demands of the industry.

The Academy also leverages L’Oréal’s vast network to provide students with invaluable industry connections, including mentorship opportunities, internships, and job placement support, helping to bridge the gap between education and professional success.

Furthering its commitment to community empowerment, the L’Oréal Foundation will offer scholarships to talented young women from disadvantaged backgrounds, empowering them through education and entrepreneurship to transform their lives and build brighter futures.

“This partnership with L’Oréal represents a shared vision for elevating the hairdressing profession in Kenya,” said Dr Joyce Gikunda. “This academy is a testament to our commitment to empowering the next generation of Kenyan hairstylists, providing them with the skills, knowledge, and support they need to thrive in this dynamic industry.”

The Kenyan beauty industry, which includes salons, is estimated to be worth approximately Sh100 billion according to the Kenya Bureau of Statistics, and it contributes significantly to the national economy.

Lack of proper skills has been a key factor in youth unemployment, with over 3.5 million young people between the ages of 18 and 34 struggling to find gainful employment. Lintons Hair Academy aims to address this gap by providing quality training, ensuring learners are industry-ready.

The academy is equipped with modern facilities and provides training from experienced professionals, ensuring high standards of education. With strong ties to top salons, students also benefit from valuable placement opportunities, gaining practical experience that enhances their career prospects.

The launch of the Lintons Hair Academy by L’Oréal underscores the company’s commitment to Kenya, fostering economic growth, and empowering local communities through education and entrepreneurship.
