The western region leaders are not happy with Kenya Kwanza government and according to Nabii Nabwera – MP, Lugari: There has never been goodwill from the government to sort out the sugar industry. They have ensured that the people of Western region don’t become economically viable because if they are poor, they are easily manipulated politically.
We want the agricultural committee in Parliament to carry out public consultative participation with farmers to understand the challenges they face otherwise it will become another failed board. This is very unfortunate because the region remains poor and politically immature despite having the ability of having there own leaders.
People who are respected like Francis Atwoli are selfish and cannot even speak for the region. The likes of Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula are quite and nobody is ready for such conversations while sugar is imported while our farmers suffer with there cane in the firms.
