A crisis is looming at the ruling coalition following the new demands of nominated MP Sabina Chege who has called for the revival of some clauses of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
According to the report, Chege who is the chairperson of Jubilee party claimed that her party will not be left out in the ongoing bi-partisan talks where she raised some demands that are to be included in the dialogue of Ruto-Raila. In her statement, she claimed that Mt Kenya region is suffering at the expense of other region because of its high population, she then stated that one man, one vote, one shilling clause that was in the BBI should be revived so that Mt Kenya region should receive more funds because of its high population.
“She further singled out that the party will rekindle the one man, one vote, one shilling debate to ensure equitable distribution of resources based on population of a certain region,” part of the statement read.
This clause was adamantly dismissed by President Ruto during the BBI period and now its revival might cause a crisis as he believes that counties are given enough funds for their developments.
