Member of Parliament for Saboti Azimio la Umoja members of parliament have been instructed by Caleb Amisi to always wear warm clothing outside of their residences.
Amisi alleged that Azimio MPs are being targeted by the government and should be ready in case they are detained in a tweet on Monday, July 24.
To all Azimio MPs: “We are all targets, and you’ll never know when they come for you. Please leave your house every day clothed warmly, mindful that the chilly Aberdare or Nyahururu rainforests could be your future home for an unknown amount of days. Additionally, carry some snacks and juice on you while you’re out and about in case they take you to Shakahola Forest, said Amisi.
The ODM MP also exhorted the opposition legislators to hold firm despite the Kenya Kwanza government’s harsh treatment of them.
He offers it in response to the Azimio coalition’s announcement that the anti-government demonstrations will continue on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.
Former Murang’a County Governor Mwangi wa Iria, Azimio announced this week’s three days of nonstop protests would be replaced by one day of demonstrations while speaking to the media on Saturday.
In connection with the protests last week, the security forces detained Kilifi South MP Ken Chonga, Kilifi Count Speaker Teddy Mwambire, and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino.
Maurice Ogeta, a bodyguard for Azimio leader Raila Odinga, and Dennis Onyango, a spokesman, were also detained by police.
The security services allegedly placed Kalozno Musyoka, the leader of the Wiper Party, under house arrest.
