Kware residents accompany police ferrying retrieved bodies to City Mortuary

A section of Kware residents on Saturday, July 13, 2024, accompanied a police car ferrying mutilated bodies retrieved from Kware dumpsite to City Mortuary.

Videos seen by K24 Digital show some of residents on top of the police car and others following the police vehicles chanting.

According to human rights activist Hussein Khalid, the residents chose to follow police with the bodies to ensure no evidence is lost.

The latest comes amid the shock that has engulfed the area following the discovery of the mutilated bodies on Friday, July 12, 2024.

Earlier today, four more bodies were retrieved from the site, through an operation conducted by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officials, a homicide team and the Recce Squad.

This came after nine bodies were recovered on Friday.

Human rights activist Hussein Khalid stated that the number is expected to soar following sentiments by local divers who stated that there were more bodies in the pit.

“Presently in Mukuru kwa Njenga assisting with the recovery of bodies. So far four have been retrieved. Local divers are saying there are more in the pit. Sad sad scenes,” Khalid said.

President William Ruto addressed the matter saying his administration will ensure that the incident is thoroughly investigated and those involved will be brought to book.

Adding;

Kwa hivyo, those who are charged with making sure that there is a comprehensive investigation on matters that we have witnessed in Kware where many Kenyans, including young girls, have lost their lives, that process must be expedited.

“The truth must be found so that those who are involved in these heinous acts must be punished, taken to court, and the law applied to its fullest extent.”
